the lush bath balms are my favorite bath products. i love them all, but especially this rose scented one that explodes with rose petals. who doesn’t love a bath? they range from $6-13 so its a perfect stocking stuffer..

i fell in love with the new aerin perfumes when i was in the u.s. this summer. the tangier vanille is such a yummy smooth amber and rose scent. this sampler includes 4 different scents that she can try before purchasing a large bottle. i ordered these for a few girlfriends and i think they will love them.

this is literally the best lip balm ever. i use it every night, faithfully. it just feels so velvety and smells amazing. it’s a little container of luxury for your lips. my lips feel so fresh and soft every morning when i wake up. it’s also perfect for any girl who doesn’t wear lipstick but wants something natural to wear that provides great moisture. i’ve been using it for years and can’t recommend it enough.

these earrings are a great splurge for a friend, mom, sister, really anyone. they are such a good price and so timeless. they definitely look way more expensive than they are. i love david yurman and these are such a good way of giving a classic piece of jewelry for a great price.

i bought these for my mom and sister for christmas (all of my surprises are going to be ruined) and i can’t wait for them to feel the fabric. it’s SO soft. it feels like a fluffy cloud.

this is is the best mascara for anyone. it’s different than any others which is why it’s a great gift even if they already have a favorite mascara. it comes off in tubes so it never smudges and feels so weightless. you just put a little water on your eyes and it comes off so easily. it’s like magic.

i love this body cream for the winter. it has an amazing, creamy almond scent that is addicting. it’s a great gift because it looks and feels so luxurious and it’s only $50.

i’m loving the burberry makeup line lately. i recently bought this lipstick and realized the easy-to-apply satin formula is perfect for winter. everyone wants lasting color in the winter but so many lipsticks are drying. this goes on so easily and comes in a great range of colors. plus, the packaging is so pretty.

this is such a good stocking stuffer because it’s under $10. it really is an amazing hand cream, and it’s a panda so you love it just for that reason. the scent is very fresh but doesn’t smell like an actual fragrance. also, my hands literally bleed in the winter from the cold weather and this never burns them like most hand creams. it’s so soothing and creamy. i can’t say enough good things about it.

all of the diptyque candles are amazing but this one is a special holiday edition. it smells like a gingerbread house- a luxe one though! the packaging is so beautiful. i like to put it above the fireplace and it acts as extra christmas decor with the rich, red colored glass.

i’m clearly obsessed with this  brand. it’s the softest material ever. it’s such a staple in any home for the winter months. any girl would love this. i can’t wait to snuggle under this with my pug, stella, on cold winter days in the u.s. this winter.

i’m typing this post on one of my last few days in the u.s. before i head back to india. i was REALLY hoping for fall to come early because every year when i’m in india i crave over the knee boots, chunky cardis and pumpkin spice coffee. it finally got cold today and i ended up pulling out my uggs instead of anything cute (go figure), but i was remembering last week when i started adding some fall pieces into my everyday looks. i wore this black and nude lacey bodysuit out to dinner last weekend. it was a good step towards fall, considering i ditched white and neon colors, so i thought i would take some quick pictures and show it. bodysuits are all the rage right now. i love this one because the lace is super feminine and the nude lining makes it chic and sexy at the same time. bodysuits make an outfit look so put together because they are obviously tucked in so you don’t have to deal with a messy shirt. can’t wait to wear this in india since it is sleeveless.

1. sunday riley good genes treatment – this is a newer brand to me but when i bought it 6 months ago, i loved it! i use it at night as a treatment and i wake up looking so refreshed. it claims to help with fine lines and wrinkles and though i don’t have that concern yet, it definitely makes my skin look and feel plump. i don’t think you can ever be too young to start an anti-aging treatment. it also just exfoliates during the night so that i wake up with smooth skin.

2. nars laguna bronzer – i feel like all of my american friends wear this so if you wear bronzer, this is no surprise. it gives you an instant glow and tan with a perfect finish of not too matte or sparkly. i’ve been using this since freshman year of college and it’s always my go-to bronzer.

3. donna karen cashmere mist deodorant  – this is definitely probably my #1 beauty product that i can’t live without. it’s a.m.a.z.i.n.g. if you haven’t tried this, you have to. i don’t even know how to describe it but it is life changing. whenever i’m wearing this without any perfume, people ask me what i’m wearing, it’s that good. it’s just the perfect vanilla, powder, fresh scent. i’m obsessed.

4. l’occitane almond cleansing shower oil – this is the only thing i use in the shower for body wash. it’s an oil that turns into body wash as you rub it in, and it’s amazing! it smells like almonds and has a strong lasting power once you get out of the shower.

5. mac angel lipstick – i wrote about this in my top 5 nude lipsticks  recently. it’s the lipstick i’ve worn the longest and it goes with almost any look and works on most skin tones. it’s the perfect nude pink.

6. smith & cult pillow pie  nail polish  – this is my go to nail polish. i keep it in my purse at all times in case i ever need to do my nails. it’s the perfect not too cool, not too warm shade of pink. it goes with everything and the adorable bottle is just a bonus!

7. murad invisiblur pefecting shield sunblock – i haven’t been using this for a super long time, but i can say i couldn’t live without it, unless i find something better. it has spf 30 in it which i definitely have to use since i live in india where the sun is out almost every day. i would highly recommend it regardless of where you live as a skin protectant from uva/uvb rays. it also doubles as a primer which is the reason it completely sold me when i started using it.

8. mac mineralize skin finish in color soft & gentle – this is the best highlighter you can get. the powder form makes it super easy to work with (as opposed to the stick highlighters which need a bit of skill) and has the perfect champagne color. it works on all skin tones and has a great lasting power and color payoff.

9. redken extreme length primer – my sister got me hooked on this hair primer. it truly makes your hair grow SO QUICKLY. as soon as you apply it you can feel your hair turn a silky smooth texture. i use it about twice a week and it is so addicting.

10. marc jacobs daisy perfume – i always tell people this is my signature fragrance. i have so many perfumes but i truly can’t live without this one. i keep a rollerball in my bag and then i have multiple bottles at home. it has a strong gardenia note which is my all time favorite. i truly recommend this for an everyday wear if you like a gardenia scent.

i know i am late to the game on the 90’s, grunge comeback. i held off because i didn’t feel like wearing it in india since it had been more popular in the west. after looking through all of the shopping i’ve done this past month, i noticed a trend of 90’s items that i had purchased, without even realizing it. i figured i had to do a post and included pictures of a few of the items below! i ran into my neighbors while i was out and kept telling them to call me kelly kapowski- for anyone who doesn’t know her, click here! anyway, i’m loving everything 90’s at the moment (or at least my own take on it), especially this hairstyle which I rocked all of middle school. i am excited to get a few more things as i continue to reminisce on my style back then.

yesterday i had a bunch of fun errands to do around the adirondacks. i wore this pretty free people ruffle trapeze dress (also comes in another color here). i haven’t worn free people since high school (scary!) but i’ve been loving their summer collection, hence why i have done two posts wearing them recently. i wore the dress with ripped, white denim and these dune khloe sandals (hilghly receommend as i have them in multiple colors). i met my sister for lunch in the park and then picked up coral geraniums for a friend at a local greenery. i also grabbed some fresh fruit from the locally grown fruit stand- i can’t get enough since i’ve been back from india. free people calls this a dress but it’s super short so i wore it with jeans. it’s just a perfect flowy summer dress and i love the casual trapeze silhouette for daytime.

i’ve been searching for a flowy dress in a blueish-purple color for the past two months, but i could never find the right one. this saturday, i ran into the isle of you, which is a cute little boutique that i always have great luck in (i’m a super picky shopper) when i’m home visiting from india. i spotted this free people floral print, off shoulder, smock dress in the perfect color so i grabbed it and wore it the next day. it’s so comfy, easy to throw on, and i love how short it is since it is not form fitting. i can wear it here in the u.s for the next few weeks before it starts cooling down, and then when i go back to india, it will be perfect for the hot october/november weather. it’s on sale at bloomies here  (they ship abroad) and still available in most sizes. grab it before it’s gone!

i am obsessed with a nude lip. since i am quite fair, and my lips are light anyway, it looks the best on me. i’ve tried SO many nudes over the past 10 years so i thought i would share them with you. these are my top 5 favorites and definitely my most worn. let’s start from left to right on the below swatches!

1: tarte tarteist lip paint in color namaste

i picked this up as i was rushing for the airport in montreal in february, and i have been wearing it almost everyday since. it’s the only liquid lipstick of the 5. unlike some liquid lipsticks, it completely dries and is very long wearing, making it a great formula. it’s easy to apply but you do need a mirror since it dries quickly and does not come off easily. the color is the perfect matte mauve nude with a pink undertone. available in the united stateshere.

2: mac myth

mac myth is a true nude and probably the hardest of them to wear for most people. it has definitely been my favorite and most worn lipstick for the past 3 years. it’s a very cool shade so it looks best on paler complexions with a neutral or cool skin tone. considering it’s so matte and opaque, it isn’t as long wearing as i would like but it’s such a pretty color if it works on your skin, that it makes up for it.  the formula is very drying so i normally wear nars turkish delight lipgloss (which is my all time fave) over it.  this color is so similar to the tom ford nude vanille (the nude vanille is slightly pinker). i bought it once but it was too similar to justify buying a second time. available in india and the united states.

3: mac angel

i’ve been wearing this for 8 years and i absolutely love it. it was my go-to lipstick and the only one i wore for about 4 years. it is the pinkest of the 5 shades but still on the nude side. it’s quite light so best for light to medium skin tones. it’s very easy to apply with a semi glossy finish. i love that it doesn’t require lip liner or gloss. it has the right amount of color and moisture. available in india and the united states.

4: dior addict in color incognito

incognito is the perfect mauvy brown nude. it goes on quite sheer so it’s very easy to put on anywhere. it’s very moisturizing and makes your lips look amazing. it’s the easiest shade to apply out of all of them and is definitely my favorite formula. the only downfall is it doesn’t last for more than an hour or two. it is definitely one of my favorites though. available at sephora india and here in the u.s.

5: rimmel airy fairy

this is the most versatile shade for almost all skin tones. it is a mauvy-pink nude and it is not too light.  it would work on most complexions for a nude color.a lot of people say it’s a dupe for mac angel (which is originally why i bought it) but it’s definitely not as pink. it’s very easy to apply because of the semi gloss finish. available in india  and the united states.

mumbai has hit an all time high in terms of heat. it’s right before the monsoon season starts and it’s extra humid. i recently had an event to attend and needed to make something sweet. i decided to make these angel food cupcakes since they are light and perfect for this weather. growing up, i always ate angel food cake with whipped cream and berries in the summer for dessert. i went with cupcake form since they are easier to serve, but feel free to use a cake pan instead.

this recipe makes 12 cupcakes. preheat oven to 350 degrees. coat the cupcake tin with oil or cooking spray.  sift the flour, powdered sugar and salt into a bowl and set aside. combine the egg whites in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. add the cream of tartar and beat for another 2 minutes. slowly add the granulated sugar about 1/4 cup at a time. increase the speed to high and continue beating for  3-5 minutes. add the vanilla and lemon juice. add half of the flour mixture on top of the eggs and fold in with a rubber spatula. add the remaining half. divide the batter evenly among the cupcake tray and bake about 15 minutes. let cool in the pan for 5 few minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

  • 1 cup flour / 110 grams sifted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar / 110 grams sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 10 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar / 150 grams
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice

  • 2  and 1/4 cups whipping cream / 500 grams
  • 2 cups powdered sugar / 250 grams
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

(*if you want this to turn out like a whipped cream, you can add 1 teaspoon of gelatin.)

1. i love anything floral, especially in swimwear, like this mara hoffman bikini. i love the cut and the light, pastel purple mixed with the neon green. i’m already dreaming of wearing this poolside back home all summer.

2.  translucent frames are my favorite for the summer because they go with everything. i normally prefer buying men’s sunglasses because i’m naturally more attracted to them when i’m shopping. i found a similar pair to the ones I own by eyevan.

3. ef collection is probably one of my favorite jewelry designers. her pieces are so dainty and chic. i love these rose gold earrings for summer because they remind me of the sun.

4. these lace up ivanka trump heels are perfect for summer and i’m loving anything yellow this season. extra bonus- they are just like the aquazurra wild thing sandals for a fraction of the price.

5. off the shoulder tops are so in right now and perfect for the hot weather in both the u.s. and india. i love yumi kim prints (and own way too many) so i fell in love when i was shopping online and found this, i couldn’t resist.

6. i am obsessed with off white denim this summer. i have been wearing these jcrew jeans constantly and can’t get enough. they add such a clean, fresh look to everything i pair them with.

7. i fell in love with this dress by self portrait when i was back in new york in january. the lace is beautiful and classic and the nude adds a bit of sexiness to the dress.

8. i wanted to include a bag but i’m not the type of person who switches my bags constantly. i prefer pouches because i can just grab it and then throw it in whatever bag i am wearing. this pouch is ideal for summer with the bright tone, but it can also transition into fall with the animal print and a mustard yellow color. primary ny is one of my favorite stores for accessories so check them out, as they have unique sunglasses and jewelry as well.

*all of the above links ship to india (except the pouch)!

when i first moved to india, i didn’t understand the importance of tea. everyone would stop and drink it at 5pm on the dot and i was so confused, since this is practically dinner time for most people in america. living in manhattan, the closest thing to afternoon tea would be grabbing a tall americano from starbucks at 3pm because i was working late. after a few weeks,  i quickly become accustomed to this tradition and started making afternoon chai (my own version of course). i figured i would throw in an old family cinnabon recipe that i’ve been making for years. it pairs perfectly with the tea, if you like something sweet.
