SUMMER MUST HAVES

1. i love anything floral, especially in swimwear, like this mara hoffman bikini. i love the cut and the light, pastel purple mixed with the neon green. i’m already dreaming of wearing this poolside back home all summer.

2.  translucent frames are my favorite for the summer because they go with everything. i normally prefer buying men’s sunglasses because i’m naturally more attracted to them when i’m shopping. i found a similar pair to the ones I own by eyevan.

3. ef collection is probably one of my favorite jewelry designers. her pieces are so dainty and chic. i love these rose gold earrings for summer because they remind me of the sun.

4. these lace up ivanka trump heels are perfect for summer and i’m loving anything yellow this season. extra bonus- they are just like the aquazurra wild thing sandals for a fraction of the price.

5. off the shoulder tops are so in right now and perfect for the hot weather in both the u.s. and india. i love yumi kim prints (and own way too many) so i fell in love when i was shopping online and found this, i couldn’t resist.

6. i am obsessed with off white denim this summer. i have been wearing these jcrew jeans constantly and can’t get enough. they add such a clean, fresh look to everything i pair them with.

7. i fell in love with this dress by self portrait when i was back in new york in january. the lace is beautiful and classic and the nude adds a bit of sexiness to the dress.

8. i wanted to include a bag but i’m not the type of person who switches my bags constantly. i prefer pouches because i can just grab it and then throw it in whatever bag i am wearing. this pouch is ideal for summer with the bright tone, but it can also transition into fall with the animal print and a mustard yellow color. primary ny is one of my favorite stores for accessories so check them out, as they have unique sunglasses and jewelry as well.

*all of the above links ship to india (except the pouch)!

CINNABON 5

when i first moved to india, i didn’t understand the importance of tea. everyone would stop and drink it at 5pm on the dot and i was so confused, since this is practically dinner time for most people in america. living in manhattan, the closest thing to afternoon tea would be grabbing a tall americano from starbucks at 3pm because i was working late. after a few weeks,  i quickly become accustomed to this tradition and started making afternoon chai (my own version of course). i figured i would throw in an old family cinnabon recipe that i’ve been making for years. it pairs perfectly with the tea, if you like something sweet.

enjoy!

i absolutely love perfume. i like to change it with the season. in india, there are basically two temperatures, hot and hotter. so when i brought my favorite scents that i had used for years in the united states and they would only last an hour because of the heat, i knew i needed to find new options. i still like to change my perfumes with the seasons as much as i can here, but the 5 i have chosen below are great for all year in india and for the summer months abroad.

philosophy sea of love

phseaoflospf

i love this perfume, which was a christmas gift from my sister this past year, because it smells like you are at the beach, without the usual coconut scent that so many summer fragrances have. it is definitely my go-to scent for normal day to day errands. it is very light, crisp, and smells like the perfect combo of salt and sand.

notes: sicilian bergamot, water lily, jasmine, gardenia, peony, cedar, musk, amber

tom ford fleur de portofino

this tom ford perfume is the most luxurious scent out of my 5 chosen favorites. it’s a mix of beach, citrus, flowers and honey.  when i wear it, the smell takes me back to when i was in italy with a friend a few years ago. it is such a sophisticated scent, but also very fresh and light so it still works for all ages. i like to wear mine on vacation…am i the only one who has a vacation scent?

notes: sicilian lemon, bigarade leaf absolute, violet leaf absolute orpur, white acacia accord, jasmine grandiforum concrete, acacia honey accord

jo malone nasturtium and clover

this jo malone scent smells like you are in a garden. it starts as an earthy and peppery scent and fades into a flowery underlying tone, so you truly feel like you are outside lying in a field. i tried this on at the holt renfrew store in montreal (which is my favorite place to buy anything beauty) and hated it at first. but, after a few hours, i fell in love with this unique fragrance. it is perfect for any outdoor daytime event or brunch.

notes: clover, bergamot,  lemon, nasturcia, jasmine, wild orchid, vetiver, amberwood, white musk.

hermes jour d’hermes gardenia

this perfume smells just like the name, gardenia, which if you love it like me, then it is a must have. two floral scents i live for are gardenia and peony.  it is a much more sophisticated gardenia scent than most others out in the market, which is why its a must for me. it’s perfect for any day or night event.

notes: gardenia, tuberose, jasmine, rose

another christmas gift from my sister this year, i fell in love with this scent upon receiving it. it’s definitely the heaviest scent on this list, which is why i only wear it at night in the summer. i love the underlying hint of peony, keeping it appropriate for warm weather.

notes: peony, muguet, tender musk
